Stowe Chapel is the perfect setting for a sumptuous concert of music for Advent and Christmas. Clare College Choir sings 9th Century ‘O’Antiphons of Advent alongside favourites by Bach, Praetorius and Mendelssohn, plus lesser-known masterpieces by Mouton, Maxwell Davies, and Grainger. There will also be an enthralling selection of Christmas arrangements by Judith Weir, John Rutter, Graham Ross, Richard Allain, Nigel Short, and Andrew Carter.
Join us for a mulled wine from 6.30pm.

On the eve of the week before Christmas, Graham Ross and the Choir of Clare College, Cambridge return to the Christmas Festival with a sumptuous programme of music for the last week in Advent and the birth of the Christ child on Christmas Day.
The 9th century ‘O’ Antiphons of Advent are heard alongside favourites by Bach, Praetorius and Mendelssohn, lesser-known masterpieces by Mouton, Maxwell Davies and Grainger, and a ravishing selection of Christmas arrangements by Judith Weir, John Rutter, Graham Ross, Richard Allain, Nigel Short and Andrew Carter.
The Choir’s newest recording, Mater ora filium: Music for Epiphany, the eighth release in their highly-acclaimed series of music for the church year for Harmonia Mundi, will be available for sale at the concert.

The Choir of Clare College return to Bury St Edmunds to perform a programme of choral works spanning the centuries under the direction of Graham Ross. English work by Byrd and Purcell sit alongside Bach's motet 'Der Geist hilft' and Heinrich Schütz's double-choir Magnificat, with 20th century works of the Anglican choral repertoire by Holst, Harris, Bainton, Vaughan Williams and Tippett, including Benjamin Britten's 'A Hymn to St Cecilia'. The programme concludes with Gershwin's 'Summertime', a sumptuous arrangement of 'Nobody does it better' and Ward Swingle's popular 'Country Dances'.
