Tour to Spain

The Choir of Clare College, Cambridge is extremely excited to be embarking on a tour to Spain on 29th June. There will be performances in the Palau de la Música, the Sagrada Familia, the Castillo Palacio de Magalia and in the Real Monasterio de San Lorenzo El Escorial (take a peek at our 'engagements' to find out more!). We look forward to seeing many of you there!

Clare College Song Competition 2019 - Semi-Final

Congratulations to the ten duos who participated in the 2019 Clare College Song Competition Semi-Final last week. We are delighted that five duos have been selected to go through to the Final:

Christopher Nehaul (King's) and Joshua Geddes (Pembroke)

Michael Johnston (St Edmund's) and Toby Hession (Clare)

Hannah Littleton (Gonville & Caius) and Stephen Tian-You Ai (Clare Hall)

Charlie Baigent (King's) and Donal McCann (King's)

Christopher Holiday (Clare) and Toby Hession (Clare)

In addition, two further duos from the Semi-Finalists have been selected to participate in the Masterclass with Roger Vignoles:

Jess Hopkins (Clare) and Toby Hession (Clare)

Megan Smania (Murray Edwards) and Mark Zang (Emmanuel)

Clare College Song Competition 2019

Clare College hosts its biannual Song Competition in 2019 for solo singers and piano accompanists studying at Cambridge University in the performance of Art Song. The competition will be adjudicated across three rounds by Graham Ross, Nicola-Jane Kemp, Dr Stephen Cleobury, Lynette Alcántara, and as a Head Judge at the final by the celebrated pianist Roger Vignoles, who will give a public masterclass for invited performers from the Semi-Final and Final rounds.

1st prize:

The Clare College Singer’s Prize, £400

A London lunchtime recital at St Martin-in-the-Fields on Monday 26 August 2019

2nd prize:

£200

The Clare College Accompanist's Prize:

£150

(not necessarily from the winning singer’s duo)

Any singers and their pianists from the Semi-final/Final may be invited to take part in a public masterclass with Roger Vignoles on the afternoon of the Final.

IN ADDITION, an unedited recording of two ‘Art’ songs – one English and one foreign language (NB: ‘Art’ songs do NOT include works from opera, oratorio, operetta or musicals), unedited and recent (less than 3 months). They must be uploaded to a YouTube channel, Dropbox or Vimeo and the shared links sent to BOTH n.kemp@etoncollege.org.uk and gr267@cam.ac.uk by 8pm on Wednesday 21 November 2018.
