Clare College is hosting its biannual Song Competition in 2017 for solo singers and piano accompanists studying at Cambridge University in the performance of Art Song. The competition will be adjudicated across three rounds by Dr Geoffrey Webber, Margaret Faultless, Nicola-Jane Kemp, Graham Ross, and as a Head Judge at the final by the celebrated Tenor Andrew Staples, who will give a public masterclass for invited performers from the Semi-Final and Final rounds.
1st prize:
The Clare College Singer’s Prize, £400
A London lunchtime recital at St Martin-in-the-Fields
2nd prize:
£200
The Clare College Accompanist's Prize:
£150
(not necessarily from the winning singer’s duo)
Any singers and their pianists from the Semi-final/Final may be invited to take part in a public masterclass with Andrew Staples on the afternoon of the Final.
